Back at last (almost)

OK. I'm almost back from my 4 month trip, boy am I glad. Currently I am visiting friends and family in Wales. It's my first trip back in 4 years and boy it feels weird. Things are the same but oh so different at the same time.

The weather has really hit me hard with the snow and wind really making a dent in the things that I wanted to do. However as always its good to see everyone and catch up so in that regard its been an awesome 7 days so far.

I will finally be back in Australia on the 20th Feb and the thought of starting back my life is really appealing, bike ride's, BBQ's and all the outdoor things I like so much are now so close. To all those who are interested when I get back to Perth I will post the pictures for you all to look at.

Dehli

Been in Dehli a few days now. I have to say it sure is one crazy place. Fast paced, vibrant, colourful and not to offend but smelly at times. I love it.

We are staying at Majnu-is-tulla. A small Tibetan colony it's a great place as you would imagine very quiet and a different world from the hustle and bustle outside the camp.

We have ventured in to New Dehli , Old Dehli and various other places over the last few days.

The poverty has been in your face everywhere you go which is hard to ignore but I guess you have to.

Tomorrow we will get the over night train then a 6 hour bus to Kathmandu , Nepal.

Kota kinabalu mosque

Easy day today so just a walk to the mosque here in kk. Temps were high and so was the humidity. The walk was very uncomfortable

The weather really cleared up today for us but to be honest we would have been pleased to see some rain to cool things down.

Tonight we will dow trip to the flicks it's only about 3 bucks Australian and it will be air conditioned. Too easy.

Manukan island

Weather reported yesterday of a fine sunny day so we planned a trip to the beach on a local island a 15 minute speed boat trip from town.

Having woke up to the sound of rain things were not looking good. However not detered we walked down to the jetty to get our boat in the hope that it might clear up.

The boat trip was great 17rm return was also pretty reasonable. Unfortunately the weather never really gotsunny although of it did really warm up so it was still an enjoyable day.

Things on manukan were as you would imagine pretty expensive so if your planning a trip here it would be wise to bring a few eats and water as even the food they do have available sold out very quickly leaving us hungry.

Snorkling was also very good with cheap hire available and lots to see.

All up a pretty good day which would have been awesome if it was sunny.

Back in Kota kinabalu

Back in kk today after a few days checking out sandakan and surrounds. It's nice to

be able to check out kk with out all the rain.

Just a quiet walk around town tonight before some boat trips and island hopping tomorrow.

Another great bus trip taking in mount kinabalu was so much nicer without the rain

Mayfair hotel

Just thought I would write a quick post about the hostel we stayed in at sandakan. The Mayfair Hotel is a small place with just a few rooms all of which have free wifi, colour tv and free access to the owners 1000+ DVD's to watch in your room when your all travelled out.

The rooms are clean, big, and very comfy. The air conditioning is also a big plus in these humid conditions

The owner is grumpy but very helpfull at the
same time. He is a regular mr fixit who is always willing to point you in the right direction.

I have had a great time here seeing many great places and nature at it's best. If you get chance to visit sandakan please please stay here it's awesome
